Keynote: Anchored in Purpose—How to Thrive When Your Work Feels Unappreciated
Discover how to find purpose in your work, even if your clients don’t always appreciate it. Interspersed with different stories about discovering how to thrive even when unappreciated as a classroom teacher, Josiah will talk about the importance of establishing a strong personal network, finding fulfillment in results instead of approval, focusing more on the positive than the negative, and ultimately finding your worth and value as an editor in God.
Workshop: Helping Fiction Clients Align Their Beliefs with Their Craft
Meaningful stories are both honest and moral, but how do you help authors achieve both in their writing? In this session, Josiah will cover what it looks like for a story to depict the world honestly, how to spot common pitfalls that paint a deceptive picture of the world, and how to help clients balance depicting darkness honestly alongside depicting it in light of Christ’s ultimate victory. We’ll also cover how to spot the unstated (and sometimes unintentional) messages in your client’s work and how to help a client better communicate their story’s message without sermonizing.
